Commemorating the choirmaster Ladislav Holásek
Tribute to the renowned master in Bratislava’s coronation temple
After successfully performing at the Bratislava Music Festival, the Bratislava Choir continues its series of concerts dedicated to the memory of the deceased long-time artistic leader and conductor Ladislav Holásek. After him, the new artistic director and conductor Adrian Kokoš took over the leadership of the choir.
Professor Holásek holds the first place in Slovakia in the overall time during which he devoted himself to choir conducting, but also in the number of important choir ensembles he led. He has been professionally involved in music culture since 1955, however the Bratislava Choir, which he took over in 1977, was the most dear to his heart. During his long-term tenure, he has received numerous awards for his contribution to the development of culture. He died on November 14, 2021.
Just this month, he wanted to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the choir with a concert. After his death, the Bratislava Choir paid tribute to him with a series of concerts in his honor.
Another of the concerts dedicated to the memory of Ladislav Holásek will take place on November 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Martin’s Cathedral in Bratislava. In addition to the Bratislava Choir led by Adrian Kokoš, it will present excellent Slovak artists.
You can look forward to soprano Mária Porubčinová, mezzo-soprano Monika Fabiánová, tenor Jozef Gráf and baritone Martin Mikuš. Tomáš Nemec will play the piano and Rastislav Jurčík will play the accordion. Petite Messe Solennelle by Gioachino Rossini will be on the programme.
