Dance Film Evening in Bratislava
The Dance Film Evening at Edison Film Hub presents powerful contemporary dance films and a post-screening discussion, symbolically opening the French focus of the festival Bratislava v pohybe.
On the occasion of International Dance Day, the festival Bratislava v pohybe, in cooperation with Edison Film Hub, presents a special Dance Film Evening on 28 April 2026 at 18:30 in Bratislava. The event combines contemporary dance cinema with a public discussion and officially opens the French focus of the festival’s 30th anniversary edition.
Programme
The evening opens with the short choreographic film Maldonne (2024) by Leïla Ka and Josselin Carré. The film follows eleven women expressing suppressed grief, resistance, and the desire for liberation through movement. Without words, it creates a powerful image of collective energy and female defiance.
The highlight of the evening is the documentary Maguy Marin: L’Urgence d’agir / Time to Act by David Mambouch, which explores the work of influential choreographer Maguy Marin. The film revisits her iconic piece May B, a landmark of contemporary dance that connects generations of performers through shared artistic experience.

Discussion: When the Time Comes to Act
After the screenings, a discussion titled When the Time Comes to Act will be led by Miroslava Kovářová. Guests include visual artist Olja Triaška Stefanović and curator Mária Beňačková Rišková.
The discussion will focus on the role of art in times of social and political tension, civic engagement, and the importance of defending cultural values.

French Focus of the Festival
The event symbolically opens the French focus of Bratislava v pohybe, which will take place from 5 to 25 October 2026 and present outstanding works and artists of contemporary dance across generations.
The films will be screened in French with English subtitles. Tickets are available online.
