David Binney Action Trio ft. Louis Cole

Star drummer Louis Cole returns to Bratislava. The trio, which brings together three prominent figures of today’s music scene, will make its debut on November 7 at Nová Cvernovka.

Louis Cole has joined forces with saxophonist and composer David Binney and bassist Pero Krstajic. Energy, powerful rhythms, modern improvisation, and a contemporary sound that transcend the boundaries of traditional jazz.

Louis Cole ranks among the top and most distinctive musicians of his generation. He is an extraordinary drummer, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and Grammy Award winner. He gained worldwide attention thanks to his original work and the Grammy-nominated album Quality Over Opinion. He is a cult figure not only among so-called “bedroom producers” but also among drummers, whom he inspires with his ultra-precise style influenced by electronic music and video game soundtracks. As both a musician and producer, he has been involved in projects spanning an incredible range of genres—from the avant-pop world of KNOWER, through jazz-fusion collaborations with bassist Thundercat, pianist Brad Mehldau, and David Binney, to his own experimental musical worlds.

David Binney is one of the most influential figures in modern jazz of the past few decades. He has collaborated with artists such as Norah Jones, Chris Potter, Aretha Franklin, Jamiroquai, and Maceo Parker. He also left a significant mark as a member of the ensemble on David Bowie’s highly acclaimed final studio album, Blackstar. He is often cited as one of the figures who shaped the alternative jazz scene of recent decades.

The third member of the trio is bassist Pera Krstajic, who provides the harmonic foundation and bridges the artistic worlds of his bandmates. In his music, he combines electronic elements with jazz inspired by his Balkan roots. It is precisely the contrast between these three creative musicians that gives the Action Trio project its unique character.
