Easter Medieval Market at Bratislava Castle
Experience Easter in Bratislava full of crafts, a medieval atmosphere, traditional activities and free admission to the SNM – Historical Museum.
If you are looking for a unique way to spend the Easter holiday weekend, don’t miss the Easter Medieval Market. The Bratislava Castle courtyard will come to life with medieval costumes and live demonstrations by artisans like the blacksmith, coin maker, and woodturner. You can even watch an armorer at work as he assembles a chainmail shirt by hand.
The market is a great place to discover local traditions that are central to the Slovak region, such as willow whip braiding and the making of flower wreaths. While you explore the stalls, you can meet falconers, try your hand at historical archery, or take a ride on a traditional wooden carousel.
For a taste of the past, visit the medieval kitchen for dishes inspired by historical recipes, or stop by the winemaker and beekeeper for local drinks. (And for your modern comfort, there will also be a coffee stall available) .
Before you leave, step inside the museum inside the castle to see the delicate Easter eggs from their collection. You can also climb to the top of the Crown Tower, which offers a unique panoramic view of the entire city.
Admission to the market is free. Museum tickets can be bought on-site.
