Euro 2026 Minifootball Championship
The efforts of the Slovak Mini Football Association (SZMF) to become the organizer of the EMF Euro 2026 tournament have been successful. After four years, Slovakia will once again host the European Championship. The continental championship will take place from May 27 to June 4, 2026, at the TIPOS Arena in Bratislava.
Slovakia last hosted the European Mini Football Championship in 2022, when it was held at the Steel Arena in Košice as a replacement for the 2020 edition, which was thwarted by the pandemic. The home team finished fifth at that time. This time, they will play in the capital, which, thanks to its location, offers convenient air and road connections.
The unofficial first edition of the European Championship was held in Bratislava in 2010, and in the nearly 16 years that have passed since then, mini-football has skyrocketed not only in Slovakia but also throughout Europe and globally. Up to 80 million viewers will be able to watch the television broadcasts in Europe alone. Worldwide, including online broadcasting, the 2024 European Championship reached up to 2.2 billion users.
A total of 52 matches will be played in the adapted 10,000-seat TIPOS Arena: 36 in the preliminary rounds (6×6), 8 in the round of 16, 4 in the quarterfinals, 2 in the semifinals, and 2 for the final rankings in 1st to 4th place.
The plan of the host Slovak Mini Football Association (SZMF) and the organizing committee (LOC) is for the Slovaks to always play at the Ondrej Nepela Winter Stadium at the most attractive time for spectators, around 8:00 p.m., as part of the night session, which will follow on from the daytime program.
