The Festival of Blaufränkisch and Bratislava Wines
The Festival of Blaufränkisch and Bratislava Wines celebrates this unique wine-growing heritage and brings a selection of local wines from winemakers from the Bratislava districts of Rača and Vajnory directly to the heart of the city.
Bratislava is the only capital city in Central Europe with extensive vineyards within its city limits. The tradition of grape growing dates back centuries and remains an important part of the city’s identity to this day.
The Festival of Blaufränkisch and Bratislava Wines celebrates this unique wine-growing heritage and brings a selection of local wines from winemakers from the Bratislava districts of Rača and Vajnory directly to the heart of the city.
The festival follows the tradition of wine events that were once part of the Bratislava Coronation Celebrations. Rača Blaufränkisch has long been associated with the city’s history and was also connected with the era of Maria Theresa, whose coronation in Bratislava remains one of the most significant events in the city’s past.
Visitors can look forward to wine tastings, a charming atmosphere in the historic city centre, a cultural programme and local gastronomic specialities.
