Golden Age Festival

Immerse yourselves in the atmosphere of interwar era, when hot jazz and swing sounded in Bratislava, and often in the performance of foreign bands

In September the capital of Slovakia will pretendedly go back in time into the 1920s to 1940s of the past century, in the cradle of jazz – New Orleans, as well as in the legendary Cotton Club in Harlem in New York.

The Golden Age Festival is the only one international music festival in Slovakia focused on old traditional jazz from 1920s till 1940s in its original sound. It takes you back to a time when jazz sounded through the streets of cities and nightclubs.

Three vintage bands with charming singers, old fashioned looking and playing original historical instruments in styles Ragtime, Hot-Jazz, New Orleans, Dixieland, Swing or Boogie-Woogie will perform in the Large Concert Studio of the RTVS on September, 17.

The invitation from the organizer and the best Slovak swing orchestra Fats Jazz Band was received this year by the British band with the French bandleader Benoit Viellefon Orchestra and the exceptional international saxophone sextet Six Brown Brothers. Three hourly concerts are followed by a traditional improvised jam session for all performers, which enjoys great popularity of listeners and musicians themselves.
