Elisa Rusca´s exhibition concept interrogates a relationship between absence and presence of a three-dimensional artwork, as well as void and its material representation in a gallery space. In the eastern tradition a central notion “mu” indicates an absence which occupies a volume. The “mu” is presence through emptiness and literally means “nothing”, “not” or refers to a certain state between activity and inactivity.
Exhibition “Into the Mu” explores this notion of the void and its relevance today when we are permanently attacked by a great amount of information, signs, objects, images, etc.
The works of four artists based abroad – Nathan Baker, Myriam El Haïk, Ciarán Walsh and Dušan Zahoranský – create from Kunsthalle LAB a heterogeneous space where sculpture, video installation and photography, but also literature, semiotic and music, come together.
