Bratislava’s KlezMORE festival features exceptional projects from the current klezmer scene
Klezmer fans in Bratislava and the greater vicinity have reason for joy this autumn. On 4-7 November KlezMORE will only again be happening in the Slovak capital, with this year’s festival being the 13th edition. Not only will the Slovak best known klezmer band, the Preßburger Klezmer Band, be performing, but also two other exceptional international ensembles.
On the opening evening of the Slovak part of this Vienna-Bratislava festival the klezmer & ethno Timna Brauer & Elias Meiri Ensemble takes to the stage. Yemini singer Timna Brauer is especially worth attention as she is among the absolutely top talents in the world music scene today.
In addition to this group, hometown favorite, the Preßburger Klezmer Band, will appear at this gala evening. The group, whose album Tsvantsik Yorn (Twenty Years) garnered them a Radio Head Award in the World & Folk Category, will be performing together with the famous Armenian singer and composer Karin Sarkisjan.
The peak event of the festival is expected to be on 7 November at the Church of the Brethren when the Semer Ensemble plays. This group is composed of the best klezmer musicians from four countries (United States, Germany, Latvia and Russia) with the premier of lost songs from the Semer studio.
Tickets for the entire concert series and individual concerts are on sale at Ticketportal.
