Magic of 11 Strings: Jarolím Emmanuel Ružička & Peter Luha

When classical virtuosity meets modern guitar, film music and pop, the result is a concert that surprises with its diversity and musical energy.

The Slovak Philharmonic’s principal concertmaster, violin virtuoso and composer Jarolím Emmanuel Ružička, also known by his stage name Dr J. E. Rose, joins forces with the internationally renowned multi-genre guitarist Peter Luh in the original concert project Magic of 11 Strings.

The title refers to the four strings of the violin and the seven strings of Peter’s guitar. However, the musical scope of this collaboration extends much further.

From Mozart, Bach, Monti and Rimsky-Korsakov, through Debussy’s Clair de lune, to captivating film music and well-known pop songs. The programme will also feature melodies from the films Scent of a Woman and Ladies in Lavender, Lennon’s Imagine and other musical surprises.

Throughout the evening, the evocative chamber combination of violin and nylon-string guitar will alternate with the modern sound of a 7-string electric guitar. Live looping will allow Peter to create additional musical layers right on stage, over which Jarolím’s violin will soar. There will also be solo performances by both musicians.

Two distinctive musical personalities, original arrangements and a concert programme that blends classical music with tunes familiar to a wide audience.
