Medieval Christmas markets at Bratislava Castle

Medieval Christmas markets will offer a combination of crafts, history, and a festive atmosphere that will transport visitors to the 14th century.

Christmas, like in the 14th century

The Medieval Christmas Markets at Bratislava Castle offer a unique opportunity to experience the holidays as they would have been experienced by residents in the second half of the 14th century. The event, organized by the Slovak National Museum – Historical Museum in cooperation with the Schatmansdorf Association and the Chancellery of the Slovak Republic, creates an atmosphere that combines the festive season with history, traditions, and demonstrations of medieval life.

Crafts, scents, and examples from the lives of our ancestors

Visitors can look forward to a varied offer of medieval craftsmen and experts who will present traditional practices and techniques. A turner, a beekeeper, a leatherworker, an illuminator, a tailor, a tinsmith, a blacksmith, a potter, and a coiner will be represented. The atmosphere will be complemented by falconers, historical cuisine, a winemaker, a wafer maker, sweet snacks and the sale of historical jewelry.
