Mikrozvuk #64: Ursula Sereghy + Katov Syn(th) – (Synthetic Water Music) / POFO (Ako počúvať fontány)

On 27 September, LOM space will host Mikrozvuk, where Ursula Sereghy and Katov Syn(th) will present their water-themed set to mark the release of the Synthetic Bird Music compilation.

Music that draws listeners into an imaginary space of memories and atmospheres – deep forests, meandering streams and the backstreets of the city. It is accompanied by everyday sounds from the surroundings – noises that are usually overlooked, yet form the natural beauty of the environment. Katov Syn(th) is a solo project by Slovak artist Dominik Novák, who combines modular synthesisers with field recordings. In live performances, he blends these elements using various sound-processing techniques, creating analogue textures and melodic lines. Dominik is also part of the Božské Soaré project, where he combines electronic music with classical music alongside Richard Grimm (Boh Vajec), the noise-punk trio Kúpel Mysle, and the audiovisual project The Blackwood Incident. He composes music for exhibitions, theatre and dance performances. This year, he contributed the track Chvíľku pred západom to the compilation Synthetic Water Music. Two years ago, he released the album Tu, kde žijem, žiješ, žijeme on LOM.

Ursula Sereghy is a Prague-based electronic music producer, multi-instrumentalist, winner of the ‘Discovery of the Year 2022’ award in the Vinyla poll, and a member of the Prague-based educational project Synth Library. In September 2021, she released her debut EP OK Box on the Gin&Platonic label, which garnered acclaim on both the Czech and international scenes. Her next EP, Cordial, was released last year on the Polish label Mondoj. She contributed the track Tůně to Synthetic Bird, which she recorded together with Dorota Barová. Ursula performs across Europe and has featured on the line-ups of festivals such as Unsound, Insomnia, Unsafe Sounds, MENT and Lunchmeat. Her music straddles the line between rhythmic tracks and cosy soundscapes, utilising her voice, saxophone and, last but not least, a computer.
