Open Day in the National Council of the Slovak Republic and the Presidential Palace

Once a year, Bratislava opens its most important institutions to the public. On 30 August 2025, visitors can explore Bratislava Castle, the Presidential Palace, and the National Council of the Slovak Republic.

The Open Day offers a unique opportunity to step inside buildings that play a key role in Slovakia’s history and political life, yet remain closed to the public for most of the year.


Bratislava Castle

Address: Hrad, 811 06 Bratislava
Open 9:00 – 17:00 (last entry 16:00).

The landmark of Bratislava and one of the symbols of Slovakia, Bratislava Castle, will welcome visitors to spaces usually reserved for state ceremonies.

  • Explore the southern representative rooms of Maria Theresa, richly decorated halls used for official receptions.

  • Visit archaeological sites in situ, presenting the oldest layers of settlement on the castle hill.

  • All exhibitions of the Slovak National Museum – Historical Museum will be open free of charge.

National Council of the Slovak Republic (Parliament)

Address: Župné námestie 12, 811 03 Bratislava
Open 9:00 – 17:00.

The Parliament building is the seat of Slovakia’s legislative power.
During the Open Day, visitors can enter the premises where laws are debated and adopted, and where decisions shaping the country’s future are made. This is one of the rare occasions to experience the heart of Slovak democracy from the inside.


Presidential Palace (Grassalkovich Palace)

Address: Hodžovo námestie 1, 811 06 Bratislava
Open 10:00 – 17:00 (last entry 16:00).

The elegant Rococo-style palace, built in 1760, serves as the official residence of the President of the Slovak Republic.
On the Open Day, the public can admire the representative halls, where state ceremonies and official receptions take place, and stroll through the palace garden, one of the most beautiful green oases in the city centre.


⚠️ Important notes:

  • On 29 August 2025, the Castle grounds will be closed.

  • On 31 August 2025, the Castle and the museum will operate with reduced hours, 12:00 – 18:00.
