Slam poetry: Kvalifikácia na Majstrovstvá Slovenska

In September, A4 will host the MSR slam qualifiers, featuring experienced slammers, national stars, and complete newcomers.

The Slovak Championships are the premier slam event in Slovakia. However, qualifying for them is not easy. Only ten competitors from Slovakia will be able to compete for the title of champion and a place at the European Championships in Graz, Austria, at Tabačka in Košice on October 31, 2025.

There will be five MSR qualifiers: on September 13 at Wave in Prešov and A4 in Bratislava, on September 19 at Tabačka in Košice, on October 4 at Bašta in Bardejov, and on October 10 at Záhrada in Banská Bystrica. The two best performers from each qualifying round, whose texts and performances most impress the audience, will advance.

Anyone can register by email at slamslovenskomail@gmail.com. The number of competitors is limited to 15 slammers.

Rules:

• No costumes or props.
• Original text that the slammer has not performed at the qualifying round or championships in previous years.
• Time limit of 4 minutes. For every 5 seconds after the time limit is exceeded, 2 points will be deducted; after exceeding 5 minutes, the contestant will be disqualified.
