In the footsteps of coronations: Route 3 in English

Anyone who likes exploring will appreciate a historic tour of one of the most beautiful towns in Slovakia

If you like attractions, history and simply nice things, then the last July weekend in the capital you will find your way. Visit the coronation Bratislava, it will be a great day.

The majestic past will come to life again in the former royal town. The thematic tours dedicated to the famous coronation history of the city will take you through the most important places connected with the coronation ceremony of Hungarian kings and their spouses.

You will start your exploration at 3 p.m. near the former Vydrica Gate on Rudnay Square, through which kings used to enter the city. Then you will pass the coronation place in St. Martin’s Cathedral to head to the streets of Bratislava in the footsteps of the coronation processions.

You will walk along Chapter, Provostal, Ventúrska and White streets to Franciscan and Main squares and through the site of the former Fisherman’s Gate to Ľudovít Štúr Square. Yellow brass crowns will show you the way in the pavement.

This beautiful route will take you to Tyrš Embankment, where at 4:30 p.m. the medieval knight’s tournament will begin as the main attraction of the manifold programme this festive day has to offer.

During this free guided tour in English on Saturday, July 30, you will recall 18 famous coronations of Hungarian kings and royal consorts, which took place in the capital of today’s Slovakia in the time span of 267 years.
