Knights at the Devín Castle

For the last time this year, you can get back to the past at the Devín Castle

Little or big ones, everyone sometimes needs to escape from reality and return to ancient times. Devín Castle will offer the opportunity to move into the Middle Ages the first September Saturday.

On September 3, the national symbol above the confluence of rivers Moravia and the Danube will shroud into the medieval atmosphere, in which you will discover some of the morals, customs and ways of fighting of the Middle Ages.

The Association of Old Martial Arts and Crafts humbly invites all the gentlepeople to the Devín Castle in order to get acquainted with the period of the Middle Ages, into which the noble well-borns will be introduced by local knights.

During the whole day, you can have fun with various pastimes, including shooting from a bow or crossbow or throwing knives, riding your kids on a wooden or live horse, but also playing in a children’s corner with various games. There will also be plenty of craft stalls.

In the Middle Ages you can see a gentle princess, a powerful king, a good and bad prince and a storyteller who can change the course of fate with magic. Whether love can be obtained by dance will tell you a fairy tale dance story from the environment of a simple people full of dreaming and magic. You will also find out what preceded the capture of the English King Richard the Lionheart in the territory of Austria and the perfect combination of magic and entertainment will be performed by the magician Talostan.

The main point of the whole day programme will be a phenomenal knight tournament from the second half of the 14th century in medieval style, in which not only knights, but also their horses will be dressed in colourful, heraldic symbols of decorated clothing. The tournament will be accompanied in verses by a clown, who comments on individual knightly disciplines, but also the final knightly bowing with the wooden lances. There is an atmosphere of medieval knighthood dueling waiting for you, which will not leave any of you cool. Come pick your favourite and cheer him up with a loud call!

Start on a journey through time and visit the medieval period at the majestic Devín Castle.
