Raschèr Saxophone Quartet & Ladislav Fančovič

The uncrowned saxophone kings of Raschèr Saxophone Quartet in exceptional fusion with the leading Slovak pianist Ladislav Fančovič means a combination of a piano with a saxophone quartet.

A little tour of this unusual group will bring very interesting compositions, which were composed by two renowned composers – Slovenian Uroš Rojko and Italian Giorgio Colombo Taccani.

In this form, their interpretations in Slovakia within the Saxophobia Bratislava festival will be premiered first on Tuesday, March 8 at the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice, then on March 9th in Malý Berlín in Trnava, and finally on March 10th at Slovak Radio in Bratislava.

In an exceptional symbiosis with Ladislav Fančovič, whose international reputation is a guarantee of the highest quality, they will perform compositions by JS Bach (Art of Fugue Selection), WA Mozart (Quintet for piano and four wind instruments in E flat major), I. Zeljenka (24 preludes for piano – selection), B. Bartók (15 Hungarian peasant songs) and two world premieres dedicated directly to these artists – by U. Rojek: RUSH for saxophone quartet and piano and by GC Taccani: The last picture of AS for saxophone quartet and piano.

The Raschèr Saxophone Quartet was founded more than 50 years ago by the pioneer of the classical saxophone Sigurd Raschèr and today they are considered to be a one of the best saxophone quartets in the world. They have given concerts in the most important concert halls around the world, on all continents. More than 300 compositions by contemporary composers as well as more than 25 compositions by the saxophone quartet and orchestras and choirs have been given to the quartet.
