Bratislava Coronation Days 2026

From 24 to 26 July 2026, Bratislava will once again transform into a city of kings, coronation ceremonies, and historical stories.

During one summer weekend, the former coronation city of the Kingdom of Hungary will come alive with an atmosphere that takes visitors back to the era of grand ceremonies, knightly tournaments, and royal processions.

The 2026 edition will celebrate the coronation of one of Europe’s most significant rulers – Maria Theresa.

Experience the unique atmosphere of royal celebrations in the streets of Bratislava’s historic centre and become part of a story that shaped the city’s history.

What can you look forward to?

  • Knight Tournament
    Thrilling duels, noble horses, and spectacular equestrian performances at Tyršovo Embankment.
  • Coronation Procession
    Monarchs, nobles, clergy, and dozens of performers in historical costumes will march from Bratislava Castle to the Main Square.
  • The Coronation Ceremony of Maria Theresa
    A historical reconstruction featuring Renaissance music, ceremonial dance, and authentic royal rituals.
  • Concert at St. Martin’s Cathedral
    A unique musical experience in the very place where Hungarian monarchs were once crowned.
  • Family Programme
    Creative workshops, historical games, and interactive activities for all generations.
  • Themed Guided Tours
    Discover real coronation stories through guided walks across Bratislava’s historic centre.

Venue

The main events will take place in the historic center of Bratislava, in places where kings and queens once walked.
The knights’ tournament on Friday will be held on Tyršov embankment.

Admission

The entire program is free.

The event is organized by the Bratislava Tourist Board in cooperation with BKIS.
