Saxophobia Bratislava
The beginning of February in Bratislava traditionally belongs to the saxophone event of the year. In addition to master classes, the sixth edition of the Saxophobia Bratislava festival will bring to the city three interesting public concerts dedicated to not only jazz, but classical saxophone music.
Saxophobia Bratislava is already a permanent part of Bratislava’s, but also the whole of Slovakia’s musical life. This festival highlights the saxophone not as an instrument of jazz, but of classical music.
Since there is a significant interest in the concerts from the audience and the first two have already sold out, the organizers have added a third concert called Hommage à Saxophone on Tuesday, February 4th at the Albrecht House. Two of the lecturers will perform at it – Ryō Noda (Japan), Philippe Portejoie (France). The artists will perform arrangements of compositions from the Baroque, Impressionism, Romanticism to contemporary compositions using the immense variability of colors and percussive sounds that can be conjured up on the saxophone. Program: J. S. Bach, R. Schumann, M. de Falla, R. Noda.
