A Long Night of Museums is to shroud Bratislava

In the mid-May, the gates of museums and galleries across Bratislava will remain open until late. The Long Night of Museums will also offer a manifold accompanying programme

Throughout the evening, museums and galleries across the city will stay open late, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore exhibitions, collections, and cultural spaces after regular opening hours.

Museums and Galleries Night is linked to International Museum Day, celebrated worldwide. It highlights the importance of museums in preserving cultural heritage and helps us better understand where we come from, who we are, and where we are heading.

This Europe-wide event, held under the patronage of the Council of Europe, has become one of the most popular cultural nights of the year. It attracts thousands of visitors and offers a special way to experience museums beyond the usual daytime visit.

During this night, museums and galleries open their doors to spaces that are normally not accessible to the public. Visitors can discover museum “behind the scenes” areas such as storerooms, restoration workshops, expert presentations, and special guided tours. These experiences reveal how collections are cared for and preserved.

In Bratislava, participants can visit a wide range of institutions, including museums of the Slovak National Museum, the Slovak National Gallery, the City Museum of Bratislava, as well as many other cultural institutions, galleries, and exhibition spaces across the city. A unified entrance fee applies.

Museums and Galleries Night is a great opportunity to experience Bratislava’s cultural heritage in a new and engaging way, combining learning, exploration, and an evening atmosphere in unique museum spaces.
