In the historical center of Bratislava you can once again experience a true Christmas atmosphere. Traditionally Christmas markets take place on the Main and Franciscan Square, this year under a different name and utilising a new concept.
The Main Christmas Market is focusing on quality, ecology, safety and also on visual attractiveness. Together with the accompanying cultural program, it should reflect the pleasant Christmas atmosphere in the city. In addition, the event will help both people and nature. Among new additions is the possibility of cashless and mobile payments.

As in previous years, an infopoint is located directly on the Main Christmas Market. Domestic and foreign visitors can thus find out more about our capital or taste the traditional Bratislava rolls.

This year’s motto is “zero waste”, in an effort to prevent and reduce waste. For this purpose, only returnable glasses and compostable dishes will be used on the market.

For the first time, market visitors may pay by credit card or mobile phone at any stand.

Security during the market will be supervised by the city police, which increases its daily patrols in the city center and the wider area. During the event, police forces will oversee the safety of visitors in the streets and will be available for help.
Main Christmas Market Helps People
Thanks to the partners, the Main Christmas Market has a charitable dimension this year. As a part of the “Good Pay” action, 1 cent will be paid into the account for the Návrat association, which will be used to stabilize the home for families with children by supporting housing and accompanying the family on an ongoing basis. Depending on the execution of payment transactions, Slovenská sporiteľňa will also provide a one-off gift.
