Bratislava Romance in Picturesque Streets or in the Clouds

Are you tempted to cruise the river with a special someone or enjoy a view of the illuminated city at night? Bratislava offers a number of places where you can spend romantic moments. You can walk the historical streets of Old Town or share a kiss in the gothic tower in Sad Janka Kráľa park. If food is on your mind, indulge in a candlelight dinner at the top of the SNP Bridge or the TV tower.

Walking the streets of Old Town

Many people prefer to stand firmly on the ground during romantic moments. You can admire the Danube and evening skyline from riverfront promenades. When walking through the historical streets of Old Town, find your way to Kapitulská, one of the oldest streets in the city. Thanks to its special atmosphere, locals consider it to be the most romantic place in Bratislava. This quaint street does not have any shops, restaurants, or pubs as most of the houses belong to the Church.

From Kapitulská, go around St Martin Cathedral, beneath the SNP Bridge and then up the winding streets to the Bratislava Castle. Its terrace offers an unprecedented view over the whole city and the dynamic flow of the river. In the recently restored Baroque garden, you can travel back in time and relive the romantic moments the castle’s former noble residents share with one another.

Romance in heights

In the search for a spectacular view, SNP Bridge is a must. Have a romantic dinner in the UFO restaurant at the top and then, on the terrace above the restaurant, lock your love on the iron heart like dozens of loving couples before you. Holders of the Bratislava CARD City & Region tourist card have a discount on the lift and restaurant bill.

In the TV tower on Kamzík hill at a height of 101 metres, is the best place to marvel at a panoramic view. “During lunch or dinner, you can admire a 360 ° view over the city and the Small Carpathian forests without having to move away from your seat,” said Bratislavan Martina Kolesárová. She used to visit the restaurant with her husband even before they got married, but they have been returning for years.

Evening romance

Romance will be music to your ears during a concert at the Slovak Philharmonic in Reduta or a performance of the Slovak National Theatre. You are also entitled to a discount on tickets with the tourist card. After the performance or concert, there’s no need to rush home. The cosy boutique hotels Roset and Marrol’s or the Arcadia Hotel in a historic Renaissance building will be happy to ensure your romantic evening continues until the next morning.
