Slovak National Gallery (part-)opens new premises

After a long and arduous reconstruction the new Slovak National Gallery (SNG) in Bratislava is to be opened

The new premises will be open to the public on Sunday, December 11 from 10 a.m. On this occassion, you can enjoy an all-day-long programme until 8 p.m., two launching exhibitions, a special project of artworks converging with architecture and an unique experience of the unrepeatable newness that we have all been waiting for for a long time.

The exhibition ‘Prologue. 12 Colours of Reality’ will guide you through the new building for the first time. In twelve thematic exhibition situations, you will see works of old, modern and contemporary art from SNG collections in mutual dialogues and more or less surprising relationships.

Another novelty will be the interactive exhibition ‘Take p(art)!’, in which we will answer the most common questions of the audience related to art.

The last layer will be the exhibition of the ‘Art in the Public Space’ building itself. Its various corners were complemented with art in the spirit of old palace traditions. While walking through the gallery, you have a chance to be surprised, amazed and make sure that art and architecture fit together wonderfully.

During the Sunday opening day, a pop-up café, Ex Libris bookstore in SNG with its own merch and catalogues, photo wall and a map of the area will be at your disposal free of charge.
