Every year in late April and early May foresters across the country organize Forest Days. 2016 is the tenth campaign year within the project of building the general public’s positive attitude towards forests and nature conservation.

City Forests in Bratislava organized this event for Sunday, 24 April 2016 in a popular complex on the Partisan meadow. The event is part of the citywide “Bratislava for Everyone” event. A varied program full of adventurous activities for families is prepared for 10:00 to 17:00.

Foresters and environmentalists have prepared competitions and activities for visitors aimed at exploring the forest, plants, animals and nature conservation. Children can try a sensation path, throwing pine cones, identify and learn about forest animals, learn why and how to separate waste, who lives in Vydrica, etc. Popular activities include boating on the pond, jumping in the inflatable castle and riding the Snežienka – Kamzík (Koliba) chairlift. Activities such as sawing wood and throwing logs are prepared for adults.

We organize three excursions for the public. The “Do You Know the Forest Trees?” excursion – organized by City Forests in Bratislava. The other excursions are “Discovering Sites of European Importance – Vydrica” and “Bird Voices”, co-organized by a partner organization.

The highlight of this year’s forest days will be the performance of hawkers led by Mgr. Pavel Michal, tasting bee products and workshops for children – wiring, carving and the participation of a Biofarma from Stupava.

The program will culminate in a closing ceremony and lighting bonfires around 17:00. The bonfire will be lit by Bratislava City mayor Ivo Nesrovnal, the event’s guest of honor.

The event is co-organized by several partner organizations in the fields of forestry and environmental protection.
