Christmas markets in Bratislava combine local flavors, culture, and winter atmosphere in several squares in the city center, from late November until the January.
Venue of the Bratislava Christmas Markets
The Bratislava Christmas Markets will once again bring festive cheer to Main Square and Hviezdoslav Square. The official opening will take place on 26 November at 6:00 PM. Christmas lights will illuminate the Christmas trees in both squares, marking the start of the Advent season.
The markets will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, from 26 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, except on 24 and 25 December.

Food that will satisfy even the pickiest eaters
At Main Square, visitors can enjoy both traditional Slovak and international Christmas food. From kapustnica (sauerkraut soup) and langos to bao and gyoza, there is plenty to choose from. Vegetarian and vegan options will also be available. You can warm up with mead, mulled wine, grog or fruit wine, while beer and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for both adults and children.
The market will also feature Christmas gifts, candles, decorations and handmade crafts, as well as stalls run by non-profit organisations.
The organizers also focus on sustainability. Four waste sorting stations will help reduce waste, and a deposit cup system allows visitors to return their cups at any market stall – following the motto “One city, one place, one returnable cup.”
Relaxation Zones and the Christmas Forest
A Friendly Zone will be created at Main Square a covered and wheelchair-accessible space for families with children, seniors and visitors looking for a quieter place to relax.
The zone will be next to the Christmas Forest at Primatial Square, where numerous Christmas trees decorated by children from primary, art and special-needs schools will create a festive display.
From 15 December, the decorated trees will be given to families and charitable organisations, bringing a little extra Christmas warmth to those who might otherwise have less of it.

If you have had enough of punch and market stalls, Bratislava offers plenty of other ways to enjoy the city in winter.
Take a walk through the historic centre, admire the Christmas lights in the streets and squares, visit a museum or gallery, or choose from concerts and other cultural events taking place during Advent.
You can also enjoy the Christmas atmosphere aboard the Christmas Tram, which has become a popular part of the Advent season in Bratislava. Current information about its operation and dates for 2026 will be published by the Bratislava Transport Company.
