A city attraction that belongs to Advent

With the advent of the Advent season, the popular Christmas tram will return to the streets of the capital. The Bratislava Transport Company plans to continue the successful concept from last year, but instead of a tram, the entire Christmas fleet will be running on the streets – 2 trams, a trolleybus, and a bus.

The Christmas tram rides will be free and available to the general public. The Christmas bus and trolleybus will be under the regular fare. This year’s novelty is a musical tram, which will run every Sunday. Passengers can look forward to chamber concerts by the Canens Women’s Choir, Katarína Koščová with Daniel Špiner, Tamara Kramar, and, at the end, Father Mirec will offer his special New Year’s Eve warm-up set.

All concerts will be mandatory, just like last year, with reserved seats so that every passenger can enjoy the ride in comfort and sitting down. Tickets for the concerts will be on sale for a symbolic amount, and all proceeds from the sale will be donated by the Bratislava Public Transport Company to support the Javorinská Social Services Center.

The Christmas fleet will operate from December 5, 2025, to January 6, 2026 , i.e. from St. Nicholas Day until Epiphany. The only exception will be Christmas Eve, when the Christmas tram will not operate.

Fairytale design and unique decoration

The flagship of the entire DPB Christmas fleet is the Musical Christmas Tram, with visuals by talented designer Saki Matsumoto. She projected scenes from famous Christmas songs onto the vehicle’s decals and a playful color palette that will stand out especially after dark, in combination with the light decorations.

An even more powerful experience will be offered by the tram interior, where passengers will smell the scent of a live tree and, at the same time, will be able to become co-creators of the decoration through their own Christmas wishes. The festive atmosphere will be complemented by the popular Children’s Christmas Gallery with drawings by children of DPB colleagues. During the rides, well-known Christmas carols and songs will be played from the speakers.

Christmas Fleet Routes

The Christmas tram route will follow a circuit in the city center, starting at the Jesenského stop. The vehicles will then serve the Centrum, Kapucínska, Chatam Sófer, Vodná veža, Most SNP stops, and return to Jesenského. The Christmas tram will run from December 5, 2025, to January 6, 2026, every weekday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and every weekend from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The only exception will be Christmas Eve, when the Christmas tram will not run. Riding the Christmas trams during standard runs will be free of charge.
