Vintage Vehicles to Commemorate 17th November

As a reminder of the Velvet Revolution, on Sunday 17 November 2019 you will be able to commemorate the atmosphere of the Velvet Revolution on the streets as well as in the Bratislava public transport. On this occasion, the transport company Bratislava will deploy vehicles which at that time transported people to demonstrations. Some of these vehicles are already in the collection of historic vehicles, others still routinely operate today.

To commemorate the atmosphere of the period, some vehicles will be equipped with period banners and inscriptions as in 1989 (in cooperation with the Slovak National Museum). Historical vehicles will transport people to Bratislava Castle for an exhibition on November 1989 N89 – The Journey to Freedom or to the city center between noon and 6 PM free of charge.

  • The N89 trolley-bus line will be served by historic trolleybuses and buses at 20 minutes intervals on the route: Nemocnica sv. Michala (Rajská) – Ondrejský cintorín – Kollárovo nám. – Hodžovo nám. – Palisády – Hrad – Mudroňova – Búdková.
  • The N89 tram line will be served by historic trams at 20 minutes intervals on the route: SND (Jesenského) – Námestie SNP – Obchodná – Blumentál – Vazovova – Americké námestie – Špitálska – Námestie SNP – Kapucínska – tunel – Most SNP – Mostová – SND (Jesenského).

Period tram sets Tatra T3 will be dispatched to serve regular routes of lines 3 and 9 from Rača through the city center to Ružinov, where the standard tariff of IDS BK will apply. Passengers will be able to change the vehicles (line N89 and line 9) at the transport hub Kollárovo námestie – Vysoká or at Kamenné nám. – Nám. SNP – Nemocnica sv. Michala (possibility to change to the line 3).
