Night in the municipal gallery

Finally live in both palaces of the gallery and with a varied programme. The Long Night of Museums is back

Municipal gallerists have prepared either programmes not limited by time or short recurring meetings with local lecturers. The gates of the palaces will open at 3 p.m.

In Mirbach Palace, not only the youngest visitors can try the technique of enamelling, fans of analogue technologies will be on the other side happy with the nightly exchange of books in the courtyard. There will be plenty to choose from. It is certainly worth stopping in the courtyard of Pálffy Palace and taking a family portrait with the Scherzs family.

In various exhibitions from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., meet the gallery lecturers who will talk about works, particular artists or the restoration process in short formats. You will also be accompanied through an exhibition of Gothic art in Pálffy Palace in English. And from 9 p.m., the courtyard of Mirbach Palace lights up to fill the atmosphere with energy, while the live set is played by DJ Kinet.

A number of ornaments that adorn its ceilings and railings attract at first glance in Mirbach palace. Try the technique of enamelling and create your own version of Rococo ornaments. In the courtyard of the palace you will be able to choose from a number of publications and books, there will also be older pieces, magazines or publications from the gallery workshop.

You will also be pleased with the video animation, the central motif of which is the portrait of comtesse Johana de Walderode. The link between ancient art and modern technologies was prepared by visual artist András Cséfalvay. Short individual mini tours await you. Saturday night will make Rado Tomek, aka DJ Kinet, even more pleasant with his music sets. You will find that the atmosphere of the courtyard of Mirbach Palace is unrepeatable.

How about a portrait with a well-known Pressburger family? Take the whole family to Pállfy Palace and meet Philip, Anna Barbara and their nine children. In short, the long process of restoring a great work of their painting will be discussed by the restorer Anna Gergová at 5 and 6 p.m. The dark period of Gothic art in the collection of the municipal gallery will be briefly introduced by lecturer Vladislav Malast. At 6:30 p.m. you can see a collection of Gothic art with a lecture in English.
