Bratislava Carnival

Carnival in Bratislava will come alive with a varied program that combines folklore, music, dance, and traditional masks. One of the most striking parts is the carnival parade, which features folklore groups, musicians, dancers, and characters in both typical and joke masks. The parade passes through the famous streets of the Old Town, which for a moment turn into a stage full of music, singing, and colors. The atmosphere is also enhanced by performances by folklore groups, live musical performances, and dance demonstrations that recall carnival customs in their original form.

Bratislava City Days
📆 April 25 – 26, 2026
Bratislava City Days bring a weekend full of culture, music, art, and urban experiences every year. Over the course of two days, the gates of buildings open, and tours, concerts, exhibitions, and events for children and adults take place. The city streets are filled with an atmosphere of celebration, discovery, and shared experience.

Night of Museums and Galleries
On the occasion of International Museum Day, the Night of Museums and Galleries is held in Bratislava every May – a nationwide event during which museums and galleries open their spaces outside of regular opening hours. Visitors usually look forward to tours of current exhibitions, accompanying programs, and often to the opening of spaces that are not normally accessible to the public during the year.

Bratislava Cultural Summer

Bratislava Cultural Summer is the largest multi-genre city festival, which has been a stable event in summer Bratislava for several decades. Throughout the summer, it involves several city scenes in the program, expanding cultural life not only in the historical center, but also in city districts and less traditional places.
The festival offers a diverse range of events every year – from concerts, theater, and film screenings to discussions, exhibitions, sports activities and programs for children. Thanks to its wide range of genres, it appeals to different age groups and encourages residents and visitors to explore the city.

The stages of the Bratislava Cultural and Information Centre (BKIS) are also part of the festival. The cultural stage in the Janka Kráľ Park regularly offers Sunday mornings for children, the space at Biela 6 is transformed into the Green Oasis with a program especially for younger visitors, and the popular Evenings on the Walls are a stable part of the summer. In recent years, the Mičurin Amphitheater, the Klarisky Concert Hall, and the House of Music have also joined the festival.

The festival’s permanent events also include established events such as the J. K. Mertz Guitar Festival, Domus & Hortus Artis, Viva Musica!, Summer Shakespeare Festival, and Tribute to Freedom.

Bratislava coronation days

At the end of July, the Slovak metropolis regularly transforms into Pressburg again. The city hosts a historical festival with a coronation procession, coronation oath and knightly tournament, during which Bratislava recalls its glorious royal past. In addition to the period atmosphere, it offers a rich accompanying program.

Lovestream Festival
📆 14. – 16. August 2026
One of the largest music festivals in Slovakia will return to Bratislava after the success of previous years. LOVESTREAM annually presents a multi-day program featuring concerts, an energetic atmosphere, and a mix of international and domestic performers.

Uprising festival
📆 28. – 29. August 2026
Uprising is the largest Central European reggae festival and is one of the leading European music events of its kind. It is known for its message of inclusivity and its effort to connect people across different cultures. In addition to the musical program, it regularly brings a diverse range of accompanying activities and an open background for families with children, thanks to which a wide range of visitors can find their place at the festival.
The festival, with its name and traditional summer date, commemorates the Slovak National Uprising, which adds a symbolic dimension to the event.

Days of ÚĽUV master craftsmen

The largest festival of traditional crafts in Bratislava presents the cultural diversity of Slovak regions, craft techniques, folk art, music, singing, and traditional tastes. It also includes a fair of original products, an accompanying cultural program, and creative workshops for children. Visitors can admire the craftsmanship of craftsmen every year in the city center on the green Hviezdoslav Square.

Rača grape harvest

One of the three most important grape harvests in the Little Carpathians is also one of the popular events in Bratislava. Traditional harvest festivals usually complement three days of a great program with music concerts, creative workshops, or a craft fair, as well as various exhibitions and numerous sporting events. Burčiak and wine tastings alternate with demonstrations of grape pressing or must tasting, as well as fun competitions.

White Night

A prestigious international art project presenting contemporary art forms, especially in unconventional locations, is taking place in October. A diverse range of art genres in dozens of well-known and unknown locations will brighten up Bratislava with visually attractive installations, concerts, films, various theater performances, dance, literature, and live performances.

Roman Games

The Roman Games offer a return to the times of the Roman Empire right in Rusovce, where a Roman military camp once stood. The event annually revives Ancient Gerulata – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – with demonstrations of Roman life, crafts, battles, period activities, and programs for families. Visitors can also learn about the history of Rusovce through thematic walks.
Bratislava Music Festival

One of the most important and longest-running international music festivals in Slovakia regularly presents top domestic and international classical music performers. Bratislava Jazz Days

The Young Wine Festival in Bratislava continues the tradition of tasting the first wines of the new harvest, which are associated with the feast of St. Martin. Open Cellar Day

The most famous wine event in Slovakia takes place every November, so that winemakers from the Malokarpatska wine-growing region can showcase their young wines. More than 100 cellars are open, where wine lovers are welcomed by winemakers from all 12 Malokarpatska wine-growing regions. The celebration of wine culture in a region where history alternates with the present is also a tribute to the difficult but beautiful work of winemakers from all over Malokarpatska. However, it is not only about wine, but also about the beautiful landscape dotted with vineyards, about regional gastronomy, often prepared by skilled winemakers, and an accompanying program, where music plays in the cellars to accompany a glass of wine.

Christmas markets

Every second half of November, Bratislava is filled with a Christmas atmosphere. Christmas markets with numerous food and gift stalls are complemented by a varied Christmas program – concerts, readings, creative activities for children, clothing and toy swaps, charity collections, and themed walks around the city. Christmas markets lasting approximately a month can be found, for example, on Hlavní námesti, Hviezdoslavov námesti, Dulov námesti, but also in Stará Tržnica or Tržnica Nivy.
